Amazing Personal Vows | Jasper Indiana Wedding Video | Old Town Hall

Kalli and Michael's Jasper wedding day started with two very chill mornings. Michael hung around their home with his friends and ran errands. Kalli got her hair, and makeup was done at the Heron Haus, a delightful European-style house in the heart of Jasper, IN.

With Kalli being a photographer and a pro-active kickass human being, most of the day was intentionally planned. From the vendors to the decor, each choice had a purpose. Kalli filled the bridal prep with her favorite hair and makeup friendors. Logan Eastham did the hair, and Kana Brown owner of The Beauty Room Evansville did the makeup. The result of the decisions was a very welcoming room.

The ceremony and reception took place at the Old Town Hall in downtown Huntingburg, IN. The hall is an 1887 Italianate structure featuring authentic victorian lighting and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ceremony took place upstairs. Then once the ceremony was over, the party went downstairs for cocktails while the staff flipped the space for a reception.

We selected the Old Town Hall because we wanted a small venue that could hold both the ceremony & reception for a simplified day. We also loved the historical architecture & that fit perfectly with our overall style. It ticked all of our boxes & the staff let us have full creative control, which was amazing for my very talented decorator & florist.

The reception was a party to remember. Un-official best-man Nicholas Johnson made a song for the couple [see video below], our photo booth helped rock the party, and Michaels rockband roots occasionally came out on the dance-floor.

Once again, Kalli's thoughtfulness could be seen. She asked all gifts to go to a charity of her choice and didn't pick bridesmaids to save her friends the expense of dresses.

The party was terrific! Here is what Kalli said:

I’m speaking for Mike here but I would say we were both most looking forward to celebrating with our friends and family at the reception. We’ve been together for so long that it pretty much already felt like we were married at that point and the day was more about sharing the love with everyone else..

Kalli and Michael’s day was filled with small acts done with great intention and love. It was a day centered around a sweet and genuine groom and a determined and caring bride. Together they crafted a wedding day done their way with love affection for each other and their families.

I chose Aaron because of the candid and authentic style of his videos. I wanted to remember the day for what it was and not feel staged when looking back at it.

Personal Note

I first met Kalli at the French wedding. (shoutout to Lauren & Brian) At that time, Kalli was second shooting for Meghan Premuda. Luckily I left a great impression on her, and when it came time to select a videographer, she chose me.

Fast forward to our discovery session at The Mill. A discovery session is the dinner or skype call I have with all our couples before the big day. At the dinner, it's obvious these two have done their emotional homework. The conversation went deep very quickly and I felt like I got to their core beliefs. Or my best possible estimation for the time we had. That night I think the two might have learned more about each other too.

This deep connection certainly put pressure on me during the wedding day and in the edit. I didn't want to let these two down. They entrusted in to their story and the opportunity to document this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. For that, in addition to Kalli's shared profession, I am so grateful to have documented their wedding day.

[ProTip: When you know someone, you care for them. This is one of many reasons why you need to meet with your vendor before the big day. No one wants to meet their vendor for this first time on their wedding day. Its's awkward for you and the vendor.]
