Family Over Everything | A Touching Coronavirus Wedding

Emily & Cody were set to have their wedding on April 25th, 2020.

With two large families, the marriage would be a grand celebration. But things changed. This thing called the coronavirus crept closer and closer. Eventually, the Governor in Indiana announced a lockdown. Emily and Cody's wedding of 400 shrunk to 10. Only the immediate family were invited, and grandparents kept their distance to ensure their protection.

The virus brought other challenges. The bridesmaid's dresses were... guess where? In China. The ring was... guess where? At a jewelry shop that was closed because it wasn't an "essential service." Through these so-called limitations and "setbacks," Emily, Cody and their families made a touching day to remember.

The ring at the jewelry shop was replaced with grandma's ring that happened to fit perfectly. The large crowds were replaced by heartfelt moments with their family. Even the people who couldn't attend made sure Emily & Cody knew they are loved. Emily's sister, Katie, made a scrapbook with letters from their friends and family. During the ceremony, a parade of cars lined outside the church. A loving serenade of car horns greeted them as they exited the church bringing the couple to tears. Even more, Emily's aunts decorated. At the reception, Emily's brother, Ben, took on his DJ Ice Cream role to lead the event and bring laughs to all involved. Not to mention the compilation of well wishes made by Cody's brother, hat greeted the two when they arrived at their honeymoon spot.

Emily and Cody's wedding day was a reminder that its not the "epicness" of the day nor the "glitz and glam." It's about connection and doing the little things with great love. Emily would agree, saying, "I would not change a single thing."
